Few things anchor a room the way a big natural smoky quartz cluster does, with its brown to gray crystals catching light from every side.
This is a raw specimen, not polished or cut, so the crystal points are as they grew, and the close up photos show them in detail. At about 8 inches across and 5.5 inches thick including the crystals, it has the depth to sit on its own as a centerpiece on a mantel, a credenza, an entry table or in a collection cabinet. Smoky quartz is hard and durable, so it holds up to years of display, and the warm smoky color sits comfortably with wood, leather and stone. It makes a memorable gift for a serious collector, a milestone birthday or a new home. This is the exact cluster shown.
The cluster is about 5.75 by 8 inches and 5.5 inches thick, including the crystals. Look at the hand photo for scale.
Smoky quartz gets its brown to gray color when natural radiation activates color centers around trace aluminum in the quartz. It is the national gemstone of Scotland, where it is called cairngorm, and Brazil supplies most commercial smoky quartz.
Stone Meaning: Smoky quartz is traditionally associated with grounding and calm.
