About Green Apophyllite and Zeolites

Apophyllite gets its name from the Greek for "it flakes off", for the way it flakes when heated. It forms glassy prismatic or tabular crystals at about 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale and usually grows with zeolites, a family of hydrated aluminum silicates that fill open cavities in basalt. Jalgaon, India is a major source.
