Septarian Sphere - Pick Your Exact Piece, Polished, 2.75 Inch

Septarian, often nicknamed dragon stone, began as a nodule that cracked and filled with calcite, and a polished sphere shows that web of veins all the way around.

Each sphere has a different web of veins, so it is fun to turn on a stand and study from every side. A sphere this size fits nicely on a desk, a bookshelf or an altar, and it makes a grounded, natural gift for a rock hound, a dad, a teacher or anyone who prefers earthy tones. You choose the exact sphere from the photos.

Each numbered option is pictured on its own, so the piece you see is the piece you receive. Each sphere is about 2.75 inches across. One sphere is sold as is with a very small chip; please check the photos.

About Septarian

Septarian nodules are carbonate rich concretions that cracked as they formed. The cracks were later filled with minerals, often yellow calcite, leaving polygonal blocks separated by bright veins. The name comes from the Latin septum, meaning partition, and although they are sometimes mistaken for dinosaur eggs, they are geological formations, not fossils.

Stone Meaning: Septarian is traditionally associated with grounding and calm communication.

Add a Sphere Stand

A stand keeps a sphere from rolling and lifts it into view, so it looks finished on a shelf, desk or altar. Pick one from our crystal sphere stands and holders, with carved wood, brass, metal and clear acrylic styles. Check the stand size against the sphere diameter for a secure fit.
