Big enough to anchor a mineral cabinet, this cluster pairs peach stilbite with glassy apophyllite on the same rock.

Stilbite is a zeolite that often grows in sheaf shaped bundles, and the peach tone sets off the glassy apophyllite crystals. At over seven inches wide and six inches deep, this is a full display specimen rather than a pocket piece, big enough to hold its own on a console table, a mantel or the center of a mineral cabinet. It weighs a little over a kilogram, so it has satisfying heft. The glass surface photo shows how the color reads against a neutral background. Give it to someone who collects minerals seriously, or keep it as the main piece in your own collection. This is the exact cluster shown.

The cluster is about 7.25 by 6 by 3 inches tall and weighs about 1.14 kilograms.

About Stilbite and Apophyllite

Stilbite is a zeolite mineral, a hydrous calcium sodium aluminum silicate, usually white but also salmon, pink or orange. It often grows as sheaf or bow tie shaped bundles of thin crystals and is soft, about 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale. The Deccan Traps basalts of India are a prolific source, where salmon pink stilbite turns up alongside pale green apophyllite near Mumbai and Pune.

Stone Meaning: Stilbite is traditionally associated with relaxation and spiritual growth.
