Natural Alligator Smoky Quartz Cluster with Mica - One of a Kind, 4.25 In

Mica growing on smoky quartz is what sets this natural cluster apart, and you can see it clearly in the close up photo.

It is an alligator smoky quartz formation from Brazil, a name used for quartz with a rough, ridged skeletal surface that collectors also call elestial. The brown smoky body, the textured faces and the mica growth all appear in the photos, along with natural inclusions, a back view and a side view showing thickness. At about 4.25 inches tall it is a compact, hand sized specimen, well suited to a display case, a desk or a mineral shelf where it can be picked up and turned. The spelling varies, smokey or smoky, but the mineral is the same. A collector of quartz habits or a fan of earthy tones would appreciate it. You get this exact cluster.

Measurements: about 4.25 inches tall and 3.75 inches wide. For thickness, the side view photo is the best guide.

About Smoky Quartz

Smoky quartz gets its brown to gray color when natural radiation activates color centers around trace aluminum in the quartz. It is the national gemstone of Scotland, where it is called cairngorm, and Brazil supplies most commercial smoky quartz.
