Large Peach Apophyllite with Stilbite Cluster - One of a Kind, 9 In

Big enough to stand alone, this apophyllite and stilbite cluster can be the centerpiece of a mineral shelf.

Many apophyllite and stilbite pieces fit in one hand. This one is long and tall enough to fill the middle of a console table or a lit cabinet, and its length gives the crystals room to spread out instead of crowding one spot. The peach tones read warm against wood furniture and look their best in daylight. Turn it slowly and the glassy apophyllite faces flash while the stilbite adds a softer texture. For a zeolite collector it is an anchor piece that changes the look of a whole display; in a home, it is natural sculpture that guests will want to pick up and ask about. The photos include a ruler and an in hand shot for scale.

About Apophyllite and Stilbite

Apophyllite is classified as a phyllosilicate rather than a zeolite, but it is commonly found with stilbite, which is one. Both grow as secondary minerals in vesicles in basalt and other volcanic rocks, and the Deccan Traps near Mumbai and Pune are known for salmon pink stilbite beside pale green apophyllite. Stilbite is the softer of the two, 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale.

Stone Meaning: Apophyllite is traditionally associated with clarity and reflection.
