Do you have a corner, a stair landing or an empty end of a hallway that needs something solid in it? This amethyst cave geode, nearly two feet tall, fills that spot without crowding it.
Its base and front are cut flat, so the geode stands upright by itself and the purple lining faces straight out. A deeper footprint gives it a steadier stance than a slim cave, and the crystal reads from across a room in daylight. For anyone born in February, or for a couple furnishing a first house together, few gifts carry this much weight, literally. It is the kind of piece a room ends up arranged around.
About Amethyst Cave Geodes
An amethyst cave is a large geode that has been cut open and set upright. These cavities begin as gas bubbles in basaltic lava; mineral rich fluids later seep in and grow quartz crystals on the walls, purple where trace iron and natural radiation have colored them. The largest amethyst geodes come from the Parana basalts of southern Brazil and neighboring Artigas, Uruguay, two of the world's biggest amethyst producing regions.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
Good to Know
- The outer shell is the geode's rind, a layer of agate or chalcedony that formed before the amethyst grew inside.
- Color in natural amethyst is seldom even; deeper purple at the crystal tips and paler zones lower down are normal.
