About Uvarovite
Uvarovite is a chromium bearing garnet and the only consistently green garnet species. It usually forms as small, bright crystals on matrix rather than large gems. It has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.5 and was named in 1832 after Count Sergei Uvarov.
