About Halite

Halite is natural rock salt, sodium chloride. It grows as isometric crystals, most often cubes, and although it is usually colorless or white, impurities and inclusions can tint it pink, red, blue, purple or gray. It is soft, about 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale, and it dissolves in water.
