Agate Geode Slice - Extra Grade, One of a Kind

A slice shows the inside of a geode in one flat cross section, with the bands that built up layer by layer around the center. It sits well on a small easel, propped on a windowsill where light can shine through, or laid flat on a stack of books. It is a good choice for a growing agate collection or as a small gift with a card for someone who likes geology.

About Agate

Agate is a banded, translucent form of microcrystalline quartz. Its bands form as silica is deposited in layers inside rock cavities by groundwater of changing composition. It is hard and takes a high polish, which is why it has been carved into cabochons, beads, bookends and carvings for thousands of years.
