About Druzy Agate

Agate forms in vesicles, the gas pockets left in cooling volcanic rock, as hot silica rich water seeps in and crystallizes over time. A druzy agate is one where the center never filled completely, leaving a lining of inward pointing quartz crystals. Cutters saw the rough with diamond blades and smooth it on progressively finer wheels.
