About Apophyllite and Stilbite

Apophyllite is a sheet silicate that forms glassy prismatic crystals, and its name comes from the Greek for it flakes off, after the way it flakes when heated. Stilbite is a zeolite, a hydrated aluminum silicate, and often grows in bow tie or sheaf shaped aggregates in salmon and peach tones. The two commonly grow together in cavities in basalt, and the Deccan Traps of India are known for exactly this pairing.
