Every turn of your head sets the opal in this necklace flashing.

The strand is made of faceted rondelle opal beads in several sizes, so the cuts catch light from many directions at once and the color moves along the necklace rather than sitting in one spot. At this length it rests around the collarbone, easy over a plain neckline or a dress shirt for evening, and relaxed enough to wear with a sweater on a weekend. The product video shows the flash in motion, which still photos only hint at. Opal is an October birthstone, so it suits an October birthday, an anniversary or a milestone gift, and a faceted strand like this is easy to wear often rather than saving for a single occasion.

About Opal

Opal is hydrous silicon dioxide, a mineraloid rather than a crystal, and the name is believed to come from the Sanskrit upala, passing into Greek as opallios. Opal shows its play of color because of its internal structure, which is why the flash moves as the stone turns. Opal is about 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, softer than most gemstones.

Stone Meaning: Opal is traditionally associated with creativity and inspiration.
