Ocean jasper is a silicified rhyolite known for round orbs, or eyes, in many colors. It is mined from a single coastal location on the Ambolobozo Peninsula of northern Madagascar, reached by boat and worked at low tide. Like other jaspers, it is a hard, opaque silica stone that takes a good polish.
