Amethyst Cave Geode - One of a Kind, 21 In Tall, 11.4 In Wide

Imagine walking past a wall of purple crystal every morning on your way out the door.

This amethyst cave geode stands a little under two feet tall, with a flat cut base and a flat cut front that let it stand upright and face you directly. Its proportions sit between tall and wide, so it works in an entryway, a reading nook or a meditation corner without overwhelming a smaller room. A cave makes a lasting housewarming or anniversary gift.

About Amethyst Cave Geodes

To make a cave, a large geode is cut open and stood upright. These cavities begin as gas bubbles in basaltic lava; mineral rich fluids later seep in and grow quartz crystals on the walls, purple where trace iron and natural radiation have colored them. The largest amethyst geodes come from the Parana basalts of southern Brazil and neighboring Artigas, Uruguay, two of the world's biggest amethyst producing regions.

Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.

Good to Know

• A spotlight or picture light angled down into the cavity brings out the crystal faces better than overhead lighting alone.
• Use a soft, dry brush for dusting; water left in the crystal pockets can dry to spots.
