This agate point is polished to a tip at both ends and drilled side to side near the top, so it hangs straight as a pendant. It measures about 54 to 55 millimeters long and 13 to 15 millimeters wide.

About Agate

Agate is a translucent, banded variety of microcrystalline quartz, rated 7 on the Mohs scale. Its bands form as silica is deposited layer by layer inside a rock cavity. Agate is slightly porous, so it takes dye well, which is how most vividly colored agate carvings and decor pieces in the trade are made.
