Elestial Smoky Quartz Crystal Specimen with Gold and Black Rutile, 5 In

The rutile is front and center on this elestial smoky quartz.

Gold and black rutile needles stand out against the brown quartz, and the alligator textured faces add depth when light hits them from the side. The crystal is about 5 by 2 by 3 inches, a slim, elongated piece that slips onto a shelf beside books or other minerals. Elestial is a market name for skeletal quartz, which forms when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, and that is what leaves the ridged, recessed texture you see here. It suits a collector who already owns clear and smoky points and wants something with more texture, and it makes a good birthday or housewarming present. The color comes from the quartz and its needles. You get this exact crystal.

Its dimensions are about 5 inches by 2 inches by 3 inches. See the ruler photo for scale.

About Elestial Smoky Quartz with Rutile

Elestial is a market name for skeletal quartz, which forms when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, leaving layered, terraced faces sometimes called alligator skin. Smoky quartz gets its brown color from natural radiation acting on trace aluminum, and rutile adds fine needle like inclusions.

Stone Meaning: Smoky quartz is traditionally associated with grounding and calm.
