Elestial Smoky Quartz with Gold and Black Rutile - One of a Kind, 3.5 In

Curious how skeletal quartz appears when it also holds rutile?

This compact elestial piece answers that well. The smokey quartz shows the stepped, alligator textured faces typical of elestial growth, and gold and black rutile adds fine lines that shine against the brown. At about 3.5 by 2.5 by 3 inches, it is nearly as deep as it is tall, a chunky shape that settles easily onto a desk or a small shelf. It makes a good first elestial for someone building a quartz collection, and an easy gift for a friend who likes minerals with texture. Smoky quartz gets its brown when natural radiation activates color centers around trace aluminum in the crystal. You get this exact elestial crystal.

Expect a piece about 3.5 inches long, 2.5 inches wide and 3 inches deep. There is a ruler photo for comparison.

About Elestial Smoky Quartz with Rutile

Elestial is a market name for skeletal quartz, which forms when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, leaving layered, terraced faces sometimes called alligator skin. Smoky quartz gets its brown color from natural radiation acting on trace aluminum, and rutile adds fine needle like inclusions.

Stone Meaning: Smoky quartz is traditionally associated with grounding and calm.
