Elestial Alligator Smoky Quartz with Rutile Inclusions - 5.5 In Crystal

Rutile takes its name from the Latin word for red, yet the needles inside quartz can also be gold or black.

In this elestial smoky quartz they show as gold and black, set against brown quartz with the stepped, alligator textured faces of skeletal growth. The piece is about 5.5 inches long, 3 inches wide and 2 inches deep, flatter than it is wide, which suits a shelf or a cabinet where its broad face can be seen. It is a good choice for someone who collects inclusions, or for a new home or office. Here the rutile needles are the main event, not a flaw. You will receive the exact crystal in the photos.

Plan on about 5.5 by 3 by 2 inches. A ruler photo is included for scale.

About Elestial Quartz and Black Rutile

Elestial is a market name for skeletal quartz, which grows in unusually saturated conditions when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, leaving recessed, layered faces. Rutile is titanium dioxide that commonly forms needle like crystals, and groups of these needles are often found penetrating quartz. Rutile is usually golden to reddish brown, and it turns black when rich in niobium and tantalum.

Stone Meaning: Smoky quartz is traditionally associated with grounding and calm.
