About Labradorite

Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar. Its flashes of color, called labradorescence, come from light reflecting off internal twinning surfaces, so the effect appears and disappears as the stone turns. It was described from Labrador, Canada, in 1770, and it is also found in Finland and Madagascar.
