About Hematoid Quartz

Hematoid quartz, also called harlequin or fire quartz, is quartz with heavy concentrations of hematite or limonite. The iron minerals create reddish orange streaks along fractures inside the crystal. It is often heat treated to deepen the color. Quartz has a hardness of 7.
