About Calcite

Calcite is calcium carbonate, one of the most widespread minerals on Earth. It comes in white, orange, blue, green, yellow and red, cleaves cleanly in three directions, and fizzes in dilute acid. It is soft, 3 on the Mohs scale, so polished calcite shows wear sooner than quartz.
