Calcite Cluster Stalactite Formation - One of a Kind, Wide, 7 x 6 In

Breadth is the story here: this calcite cluster spreads wide and stays fairly flat, so the whole face of the formation is on show at once.

Its cut base lets it stand upright without a holder. The broad, shallow shape is easy to place on a bookshelf with little depth, a floating shelf or the back of a desk, and it reads well from straight on. A natural formation in calcite makes a fine gift for a rock hound, a caver or someone setting up a home office who wants something less expected than a geode.

About Calcite Stalactites

Stalactites form in caves as mineral rich water drips from the ceiling and leaves calcium carbonate behind, layer after layer, so a slice through one shows concentric growth rings. Limestone cave formations grow very slowly, possibly over thousands of years. Calcite is calcium carbonate, only 3 on the Mohs scale, and it scratches easily.

Stone Meaning: Calcite is traditionally associated with clarity and balance.
