Extra Large Pink Tourmaline on Matrix Crystal Point - Chunky, 6.25 In

For the tourmaline collector who wants mass rather than height, here is a thick pink tourmaline point on matrix.

The proportions set it apart: about 6.25 inches tall but 5 inches wide and 4 inches deep, so it reads as a chunky block of stone with the point rising from it. The pink tourmaline crystals sit within the matrix, which gives the color a natural setting and makes the piece interesting from more than one angle. It fits a wide shelf, a curio cabinet or the center of a coffee table. Shopping for an October birthday or an eighth anniversary? Tourmaline is a birthstone for the first and the traditional gem for the second. It is called extra large for its bulk rather than its height, so compare the ruler photo with your space before buying. The piece pictured is the one we ship.

Dimensions run about 6.25 by 5 by 4 inches. The ruler photo shows the scale.

About Pink Tourmaline

Tourmaline is a large group of boron silicate minerals, and manganese is what produces its pinks and reds. Elbaite, the lithium bearing species, is behind many of the colored varieties. Tourmaline crystals grow as long prisms, usually triangular in cross section with lengthwise striations, and tourmaline is an October birthstone and the gem for the eighth anniversary.

Stone Meaning: Pink tourmaline is traditionally associated with love and compassion.
