Two dark, dramatic minerals share this sphere: black tourmaline and hematite, polished together into one bold, earthy piece.
Its deep tones suit a study, a home office, an entryway or a gothic or industrial interior, and it looks especially striking on a brass or black metal stand. At about 4 inches across, it is a substantial size for a desk or shelf. It makes a thoughtful gift for someone who prefers dark stones, or for a collector who wants a combination piece rather than a single mineral. This is the exact sphere shown.
The sphere is about 4 inches in diameter. It has a few tiny chips near the middle, shown in the photos.
About Tourmaline and Hematite
Black tourmaline, or schorl, is the most common tourmaline, a boron silicate that grows in long striated crystals. Hematite is iron oxide, silver gray to black with a metallic luster when polished, and very dense for its size.
Stone Meaning: Black tourmaline and hematite are traditionally associated with grounding.
Add a Sphere Stand
A stand keeps a sphere from rolling and lifts it into view, so it looks finished on a shelf, desk or altar. Pick one from our crystal sphere stands and holders, with carved wood, brass, metal and clear acrylic styles. Check the stand size against the sphere diameter for a secure fit.
