This fossilized mako shark tooth has a broad, blade-like crown, and many still keep a surprisingly sharp edge. Teeth measure about 1.25 to 1.5 inches long and 0.7 to 1.2 inches wide.

Add it to a fossil collection, give it to a young shark fan or ocean lover, or wrap it with wire as a pendant. It makes a memorable gift for birthdays and science lovers. Edges can be sharp, so supervise children when handling.

About Fossil Mako Teeth

Most fossil teeth sold as mako come from an extinct broad-toothed shark labeled Isurus, Cosmopolitodus or Carcharodon hastalis, which lived from the Eocene through the Pleistocene. Teeth are often the only part of a shark that fossilizes, and minerals from the surrounding sediment give them their dark or tan color.
