Rounded, bubbly formations cover this raw chalcedony, giving it the grape-like look that botryoidal minerals are named for. The word comes from the Greek for cluster of grapes.

Choose small, about 17 by 35 millimeters to 41 by 60 millimeters, or large, about 35 by 55 millimeters to 47 by 73 millimeters. Display it on a shelf or windowsill, add it to a mineral collection, or use it in terrariums and crafts.

Chalcedony is rated 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, so it is durable for display. Dust the bubbles with a soft brush. Each specimen is natural, so size, shape and color vary.

About Chalcedony
